CFBR stands for “Commenting for better reach” on LinkedIn — in other words: “I’m commenting to help this post reach more people.” It is not a LinkedIn feature, but an abbreviation users add to comments to signal that the comment is not a substantive contribution, but support.

CFBR typically appears under job posts, donation appeals or announcements for a colleague’s project—usually as a single word or preceded by a short sentence.

## What the abbreviation stands for

CFBR stands for “Commenting for better reach”; you may also see the variation “Comment for better reach”. Both mean the same thing. Anyone who uses it assumes that a comment gives a post more reach than a reaction—and at the same time makes it clear that the comment adds no substantive value.

**Important context:**The assumption that comments generate more reach than likes is what users who write CFBR believe. We have not found any statement from LinkedIn that confirms this, so we do not present it as fact. What can be observed: a comment is visible—it appears below the post and can prompt a reply. A reaction does not.

## When CFBR is appropriate

The abbreviation fits exactly three situations:

- **You want to help, but you have no relevant expertise to contribute.**A job opening, a request for help, a donation appeal—your comment should create visibility, not content.
- **You know the person and want to show it.**CFBR makes it clear that the support is intentional, not accidental.
- **The post is time-sensitive.**When you are looking for employees or have a meeting in two days, speed matters more than a fully formulated thought.

CFBR is not appropriate under expert posts where you actually have something to say, or under every other post in your feed. If you use the abbreviation constantly, you leave behind a comment section with no substance—visible to anyone who visits your profile.

## Copyable examples

You can use these lines directly and adapt them.

**Brief and neutral:**

CFBR

**With context, so the abbreviation is easy to understand:**

CFBR – comment for more reach because this position deserves the right person.

**In German, without abbreviations:**

I comment to increase reach—and because I know how well the team works.

**If you actively delegate the search:**

CFBR. If anyone in my network is currently looking: Contact Sandra directly, she responds quickly.

## The better alternative: a comment with substance

CFBR is honest, but forgettable. A comment that adds something has the same effect—and is also read by people who will remember your name afterwards.

Three patterns that almost always work:

- **A concrete experience:**“We filled the same role last year—the difference was that we included the salary in the job listing. After that, we received three times as many suitable applications.”
- **A genuine question:**“How flexible is the role in terms of location? I have someone in mind who would need to work from Leipzig.”
- **A tailored recommendation:**“@Name, that sounds exactly like what you were looking for.” – The tag brings the post directly to the person it is about.

If you can’t deliver any of these three things, CFBR is the right choice. At least then it’s transparent. We explain how to systematically turn comments into conversations in our article on[Reach through comments](https://compleadly.com/blog/post-less-comment-more-how-to-double-your-linkedin-reach)described; anyone who comments regularly and does not want to miss a reply will find it in[this follow-up text under posts](https://compleadly.com/blog/this-way-you-won-t-miss-a-single-comment-on-your-posts-the-linkedin-algorithm-will-love-it)the right approach. You can see whether all of this affects visibility in the figures below your post – our article on what is counted there explains it.[LinkedIn impressions](https://compleadly.com/blog/what-are-linkedin-impressions) field.

## What CFBR is not

CFBR is not a feature you activate on LinkedIn, a hashtag with special effects, or a guarantee. It is a word in a comment field. Its impact depends on whether your comment starts a conversation – and a single abbreviation rarely does.

We deliberately do not comment here on other abbreviations circulating in the same context: we have not found a reliable source for them, and a plausible explanation is not the same as a verified one.

## Frequently asked questions about CFBR on LinkedIn

### What does CFBR mean on LinkedIn?

CFBR stands for “Commenting for Better Reach”. People who use it comment deliberately to give a post more visibility, while making it clear that the comment does not add any substantive value.

### Does CFBR really increase your reach?

We cannot substantiate this—LinkedIn does not publish any information on this that we have verified. The assumption comes from users, not from the platform itself. One thing is certain: a comment is visible below the post; a reaction is not.

### Is CFBR rude?

No, as long as it is used honestly. It only comes across as rude when it appears under a professional post that calls for a genuine response, or when it is your only type of comment.

### What should I write instead of CFBR?

A specific experience, a genuine question, or directly tagging the person the post is relevant to. All three go further than an abbreviation—and they get read.

### Do I need to explain CFBR?

In German-speaking networks, a short addition is useful because not everyone knows the abbreviation. A brief phrase like “comment for more reach” is enough.
