You can find your LinkedIn QR code in the LinkedIn mobile app: Tap in the**Search bar**to the**QR code**\-symbol and switch to the tab**My code**(on Android:**MY CODE**). There, you can save and share the code. To scan someone else’s code, follow the same steps and switch to the tab instead.**Scan** field.

This guide walks you through both options step by step: what happens after the scan, where the code is genuinely useful in day-to-day work, and what you can do when you are at your desktop.**Last updated: 19 September 2026**, all click paths from the[LinkedIn Help Centre](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a525286/verwenden-ein-linkedin-qr-code-sich-mit-mitgliedern?lang=de) field.

## Find and save your LinkedIn QR code

The process is almost identical on iOS and Android; the labels differ slightly.

1. Open the LinkedIn app.
2. Tap the**QR code**\-symbol in the**Search bar** field.
3. Select the tab**My code**(Android:**MY CODE**).

According to the help article, you have these options for saving and sharing:

- **iOS:** **Share code**(for example, via message, email or third-party app) and**Save to Photos** field.
- **Android:** **SAVE TO GALLERY**LinkedIn notes that sharing via message, email or third-party apps on Android will be available shortly.

Source: [linkedin.com/help – Connecting with members via LinkedIn QR code](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a525286/verwenden-ein-linkedin-qr-code-sich-mit-mitgliedern?lang=de) field.

## Scan external QR code

1. Open the LinkedIn app and tap the**QR code**\- icon in the search bar.
2. Select the tab**Scan**(Android:**SCAN**). On Android, the first time you need to go through**ENABLE CAMERA ACCESS**allow camera access.
3. Hold your device directly over the QR code of the person you want to connect with.

If you received the code as an image beforehand, you don’t need a camera: on iOS, you use**Scan from photos**, on Android**ADD CODE FROM GALLERY**. That is why it is worth sending your code as an image instead of just printing it out—the recipient can scan it at their desk too.

## LinkedIn QR Code Profile: What Happens After You Scan It

According to the help article, scanning a LinkedIn QR code takes you directly to the person's profile. So you do not land in a connection request straight away, but on their profile page first—whether you connect, follow, or simply read is up to you afterwards.

This matters more than it sounds. The QR code only replaces the step of spelling a name correctly and finding it in search. Everything else—profile picture, headline, About section—determines whether a scan turns into a contact. If you use the code at trade shows, it is worth taking a look beforehand at what people will see:[a polished profile](https://compleadly.com/blog/perfect-linkedin-profile-career-success-in-6-steps)and a cleanHero image in the correct sizework for you while you are already in your next conversation.

And think in advance about how you’ll follow up. We cover whether a connection request works better with or without a message in the article on the[Connect with or without a message](https://compleadly.com/blog/linkedin-connections-with-or-without-a-message-what-works-better)taken apart.

## Where the QR code is useful in everyday life

- **Trade fair and conference:**The classic case. Two phones, one scan, no mistyping even with complicated names.
- **Business card:**The code on the back saves you from typing in the URL. Make sure it is large enough and has sufficient contrast, otherwise scanning may fail in restaurant lighting.
- **Presentation slide:**A closing slide with a code and your full name. Anyone who does not scan the code can still look you up.
- **Email signature:**An image is often unnecessary here – on a computer, people would rather click a link than pick up their phone. Linked text is enough.

Rule of thumb: use a QR code when people are physically in front of you. Use a link when they are already at a screen.

## Is the LinkedIn QR code available on desktop?

The German help article on the LinkedIn QR code only describes the mobile app—LinkedIn does not mention a desktop option there. If you are at your computer and need a code, there is a simple workaround: create one yourself using your public profile URL.

All you need is your profile URL. You can find out how to locate it in our article.[Find LinkedIn URL](https://compleadly.com/blog/find-your-linkedin-url-it-s-that-easy)Enter this URL into any QR code generator. The result is a static code that links directly to your profile.

A data protection note: Many providers advertise with_dynamic_QR codes. They do not point to your profile URL, but to a redirect from the provider, which can track when and how often they are scanned. A**static**A code pointing to your profile URL is the more privacy-friendly option: it contains the address itself, works without an intermediary, and will not stop working if the service is shut down or becomes paid.

## Before: Set a concise profile URL

If a code is generated from your profile URL, it makes sense to keep that URL tidy. LinkedIn lets you set a personal public profile URL. According to the help article, on desktop you can do this via**You > View profile**, then on the right next to**Public profile and URL**to**Edit**and under**Edit personal URL**to the**Edit**\-symbol next to the URL. The customisable part must be between 3 and 100 characters long and may not contain spaces, symbols, special characters, or the word “LinkedIn”; capitalisation does not matter.
