## Why trust matters more than anything else

When someone discovers a new product or service, their first thought is: “Does this really work? Is this for me? Can I trust the person behind it?” This is exactly where building trust begins. People rarely make purely rational decisions – they look for security, guidance and a good feeling.

The good news: there are many ways to build trust. You do not have to use all of them – often, just one element is enough. The only important thing is that it needs to be visible.

‍

## **12 practical ways to support your offer**

## 1\. Your own story

Be open about how you achieved your own goal – whether you lost weight, built a business or led a team. When your target audience sees: “You used to be exactly where I am today,” your credibility increases significantly.

**Example**: You offer coaching to help people become more visible on LinkedIn? Then share how you built your first 1,000 followers – and what you got wrong along the way.

‍

## 2\. Social proof from others

Results achieved by others are extremely valuable – especially when they are similar to your target audience. Short quotes, before-and-after comparisons or success stories make your impact tangible.

**Example**: “Lisa had 0 customers through LinkedIn – after 3 weeks using our process, she had 4 initial conversations with her ideal target audience.”

‍

## 3\. Positive reviews

The more satisfied customers you have, the stronger the effect. Numbers work too:

**Example**: “More than 300 people have completed our training.” Or: “Over 1,000 hours of experience with sales conversations in this exact industry.”

‍

## 4\. Certificates & awards

Whether it is an IHK certificate, a degree or a validated process – this type of proof increases the credibility of your offer.

**Example**: “Certified negotiation trainer (IHK), specialising in B2B sales for mid-sized companies.”

‍

## 5\. Data, figures and studies

Some people need hard facts. Studies, statistics or key figures give your statements a solid foundation.

**Example**: “According to a HubSpot study, 37% more people reply to LinkedIn messages with clear relevance.”

‍

## 6\. Recommendations from experts

When experts publicly say, “This person knows their craft,” it has a strong impact.

**Example**: A LinkedIn post or short video from an authority figure recommending you.

‍

On LinkedIn, recommendations on your profile serve this purpose. Learn how to request them in [Writing and requesting LinkedIn recommendations](https://compleadly.com/blog/linkedin-recommendation-examples).

## 7\. Unique features or methods

Do you have something others do not? A specific process, a tool or clear positioning sparks interest.

**Example**: “Our 5-step method was developed specifically for self-employed professionals who have little time but big goals.”

‍

## 8\. Testimonials from well-known people

When well-known people trust you – and it comes across credibly – it is often more powerful than any ad.

**Example**: A successful industry influencer shows in their story that they use your consulting services.

‍

## 9\. A genuine guarantee

A performance promise that takes on the risk shows that you believe in your own offer.

**Example**: “If you have not had a single conversation with a potential customer after 4 weeks, you get your money back – no questions asked.”

‍

## 10\. Clearly name the pain and the problem

The better you describe the everyday reality and internal questions of your target audience, the more understood they will feel.

**Example**: “Do you feel like you are talking into the void on LinkedIn? No likes, no enquiries, no feedback – even though you know what you are capable of?”

‍

## 11\. Trust through independent third-party sources

Whether through trade media, podcasts or Google rankings – external sources create authority.

**Example**: “Ranked #1 on Google for ‘LinkedIn strategy for real estate agents’.”

‍

## 12\. Live insights and real examples

Show directly what your offer can do – in a demo, a video or a real customer recording.

**Example**: Are you in a sales meeting? Then play a real recording of one of their colleagues speaking to a new lead on the phone. Then ask: “Would you make calls like this if we brought you exactly these types of contacts?”

‍

These approaches work even when you’re not selling a product. In recruiting, you’re selling a role: candidates want to know who’s on the team, what day-to-day work looks like, and whether the manager lives up to what the job posting promises. Point 12, genuine insights, beats any employer-branding slogan here. As a candidate, you’re selling yourself, and point 5 means using figures from your last job instead of adjectives. You don’t have to make the first contact manually. In CompLeadly, you choose who you want to reach, for example through a Sales Navigator search or your Recruiter Lite pipeline (licence required). The desktop app handles profile visits, connection requests, initial contact and follow-ups. Learn more: [Reach out to candidates with CompLeadly](https://compleadly.com/use-cases/recruiters) it and enter it [Show you’re open to a new role with Open to Work](https://compleadly.com/blog/open-to-work-linkedin).

## Conclusion

You do not need glossy campaigns. People choose you when they realise: “This is real, this works, and I can rely on it.” Just 2–3 well-placed pieces of proof can make all the difference – and turn a “Maybe” into a “Yes.”

Which of these trust-building levers are you already using – and which ones do you want to add deliberately?
