With InMail, you can message people on LinkedIn outside your network—either using credits or through Open Profiles. It is better to split Auto-InMail into two functions in your workflow to avoid errors and maintain more control.
How does InMail work on LinkedIn?
InMail is a LinkedIn feature that lets you send messages to people outside your network—even if you are not connected yet. To do this, you need active InMail credits, which are provided monthly depending on your LinkedIn subscription.
There are also so-called “Open Profiles”. These allow you to send messages without using InMail credits. However, this only works for profiles that have enabled this option—usually people with Premium accounts who are open to new connections.
Recommendation: Split Auto-InMail
To avoid issues, it makes sense to split the Auto-InMail feature:
- Option 1: targeted sending using only your InMail credits
- Option 2: sending only to Open Profiles
So, two InMail functions in your workflow.
This separation gives you more control over how messages are sent and whether InMail credits are used.
If both options are combined (meaning to all is selected and messages are sent), errors can occur more quickly—especially if LinkedIn makes changes to its website.
