Why many LinkedIn meetings fall through – and how to book them anyway

Why scheduling meetings often fails

Many people have experienced that despite apparent interest in a service or product, a LinkedIn contact does not lead to the desired meeting. The disappointment is significant when contacts do not book a meeting via a Calendly link or similar scheduling tools.

The importance of the phone number

One solution to this problem could be to ask for the contact's phone number directly. Especially in the high-ticket segment, it is important to establish personal contact with the customer, whether through a strategy call or a qualification call. Experience shows that contacts are more willing to share their phone number, which is usually a business number, than to book a call through an impersonal and lengthy link.

Another issue, especially on LinkedIn, is that LinkedIn does not like redirects to other websites and first asks the contact whether they really want to leave the secure LinkedIn site and switch to the potentially insecure XXX site. Very few contacts do this.

Strategies for scheduling meetings

Once you have the contact's phone number, ask when they are available. Fridays are often good days for these conversations, as many people have more time then. If someone is not willing to share their phone number but is interested in a conversation, try to schedule the meeting directly in the chat instead of just sending a scheduling link.

The art of following up

It is also important to stay persistent. If someone shows interest but then stops replying, you should not hesitate to follow up. CompLeadly's Chrome extension can also help you with this, allowing you to track the conversation history efficiently and send follow-ups until the contact actually replies.

Live

Sometimes your business requires you to arrange a live broadcast or something similar. In such cases, flexibility is key. Try to schedule the meeting directly in the chat instead of only sending a scheduling link.

It often makes sense in these cases too

Conclusion

Scheduling a meeting is often the first step in a successful business relationship and should not be left to chance. By asking for the phone number directly, following up strategically, and taking a flexible approach, you can significantly increase the likelihood of successfully scheduling meetings.
